Starfield Teases “New Ways To Travel”, New Gameplay Options And Expansion Coming Next Year

Bethesda Game Studios isn’t done yet with Starfield. The open-world space game has teased what’s to come in 2024.

Starting in February, Starfield updates will arrive in a six-week cadence, more or less. These updates will go live first on the Steam Beta branch.

Expect “new ways to travel”, which is a pretty sneaky tease as it can mean anything. A rover? Spaceships can fly around solar systems? A segue?

Players can expect to also get city maps, making traversing the major cities in the Settled Systems less of a hassle. And the developers definitely has seen how popular the in-world city map mods have been.

There will also be new ways to customise ships, including new ship decorations and building options.

There will be more ways to tweak the gameplay of Starfield beyond the difficulty option. This includes the ability to customise carry capacity (please let one of the options be “unlimited”), cargo access distance, ship damage, vendor credits (also wishing for an “unlimited” option), afflictions, survival mechanics and more.

Of course, mod support is also coming and this will come with the launch of the new Creation Kit, the official mod tools.

And we can expect to see the first expansion to Starfield, Shattered Space, coming next year. The expansion confirms to include new story content, new locations and new gear.

Starfield is out now on Xbox Series X|S and PC. Check out our review of the game here.
