Stampede: Racing Royale Is Kart Racing For 60 Players, Steam Playtest Begins Next Weekend

Have you heard? A herd of racing karts is coming. A stampede if you will. Sumo Leamington and publisher Secret Mode have announced Stampede: Racing Royale, a 60-player kart racer that’s also a battle royale.

A Steam Playtest will be available next weekend, July 27-31, and they are looking for sign-ups.

The playtest will feature eight race maps and one battle arena, and 50 customisation options, with more content in development for the full release. Progress will be wiped, won’t be carried over to future playtest, or the Early Access release.

The playtest is for the developers to get feedback, as well as an attempt to grow a community- which you need if you are going to support a game with 60 players per match. Players can share their thoughts and suggestions about the game via the feedback form.

If you ever wished Mario Kart has a little sprinkle of Onrush (the only game that used “stampede” to describe pack racing from what we can tell), then Stampede: Racing Royale is your wish come true. 60 players go through a three-round eliminator event so you must be ahead of the herd to progress through the Stampede Races. Stampede Battles, however, will see you fighting each other throwing power-ups to win.

Stampede: Racing Royale will be available on PC via Steam Early Access later this year, and coming later to consoles.
