Sleeping Dogs’ successor, Triad Wars, is being shut down before making it out of closed beta.
Developer United Front Games announced that the game will remain playable until January 20th on Twitter and the official Triad Wars forum. After that, the beta and service will be taken offline.
“Since the start of the Triad Wars Closed Beta this year, diligent Enforcers have run rampant through the streets of Hong Kong, killing rivals and building Empires. During this time we have gathered immense amounts of feedback, information, and data on the game. We’ve loved seeing how you’ve played Triad Wars but we know it wasn’t right for many of you," the developer wrote on its forum.
As a result, the developer isn’t accepting any more purchases and will make gold available free of charge for the next four weeks. It will soon reveal how players can refund unused gold.
The original Sleeping Dogs was released in 2012, but didn’t sell quite as well as publisher Square Enix would have liked despite excellent reviews. Triad Wars was to take the action online, but players weren’t able to interact with one another, instead raiding and fighting NPCs.
If you have been playing Triad Wars, make the most of it before the closed beta winds up on January 20th.
