Atlus has released a demo for Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance on PlayStation and Steam.
This demo allows players to play the opening parts of the game, up to 4 story bosses. That’s at least the entire first region in the opening hours.
Game progress from the SMT V Vengeance demo can be carried over to the full game.
This also means you can create two saves for the two different storylines, Canon Of Creation (the main scenario in the 2021 release exclusive to Switch), and the new Canon Of Vengeance. In the demo, the two stories should roughly still lines up aside from the appearance of a new character in Canon Of Vengeance. You’ll have to play the full game to see how the story radically branches off.
Here are the contents available in the SMT V Vengeance demo:
- Pick between Canon Of Creation and Canon Of Vengeance storyline
- Fight 4 story bosses
- Complete 20 different side quests
- Take on 6 demon lairs
- Access to demon fusion
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is an enhanced version that replaced the 2021 turn-based RPG, featuring a whole new campaign that’s just as long as the original (it can stretch to 80 hours), new demons to fight or recruit or fuse, and a plethora of quality of life features based on fan feedback.
Atlus recently released Metaphor: ReFantazio which sold more than a million copies on launch day alone. The new game by key people that made Persona 5 had a rather generously portioned demo released ahead of the game’s launch.
SMT V, as a series, did sold more than a million copies, though that includes sales from the original SMT V release as well. But with a free demo as generous as Metaphor, that may change after more folks discover the game which Persona used to be a spin-off of.
That gamelan-infused trap beat that plays when you level up is something more folks need to experience.
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is out now on PS4, PS5, PC (Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. Check out our review of the game here.
