Satisfactory Sold More Than 5 Million Copies After Four Years Of Early Access Release

Satisfactory, the first-person factory builder and logistics sim by Coffee Stain Studios, has sold more than 5.5 million copies as of December 24.

This was revealed in the developer’s latest video, celebrating the past holiday season.

Satisfactory was launched in 2019, as an Early Access game, and as an Epic Games Store exclusive at that time. Since then, the game has launched on Steam and continuously updated. The latest Update 8 saw Satisfactory upgrading from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5, bringing in more graphical options.

It is incredible to see what one would assume to be a game of a niche genre, factory builders aren’t exactly the sort of games that would wow most of the mainstream gaming audience at video showcase events, can pull out AAA game sales numbers. Maybe not Elden Ring or God Of War Ragnarok numbers (maybe Deathloop numbers), and the total sales count here is taken over a longer period of time. But still, goes to show how games of niche genres can still garner a huge audience.

Satisfactory is out now on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store) in Early Access.
