Retro Futuristic Combat Racing Game Star Racer Getting A Demo Ahead Of Early Access Release

Star Racer, developed by Whatnot Games, is releasing in Early Access soon, but you can get your hands on this retro futuristic combat racing game with a demo now available, as part of Steam Next Fest.

Star Racer is retro-inspired in that it uses 2D sprites for its vehicles with wide, windy, floating roads. In other words, it is riffing on the F-Zero series.

And to add more to the nostalgia tinge, the soundtrack is done by legendary composer Grant Kirkhope, whose works from the SNES and Nintendo 64 days like Banjo Kazooie and GoldenEye 64 (and even today with his latest work on the Mario & Rabbids series) are loved by many.

The demo of Star Racer can post their fastest time on the Steam Next Fest-exclusive race to get exclusive rewards when the game launches on Early Access.

The demo will can be found on Steam.

Star Racer allows players to race cleanly using the old drift-and-boost mechanics or shoot the competition apart to claim the checkered flag. The full game will include a track editor, local multiplayer up to 4 players (local multiplayer support on PC games are rare, but always welcome) and also unique vehicles with different stats.

Star Racer launches in Early Access on March 8 on PC (Steam).
