Resistor Is A Racing RPG, First Gameplay Trailer Shows Customised Cars In Full Speed

Here’s a fascinating new indie game currently in development. Resistor, developed by Long Way Home and published by PQube, is described as “a turbocharged narrative-driven adventure RPG featuring open-world exploration, stunt-infused racing, and explosive vehicular combat”.

In other words, it’s a car-PG (caRPG). But with an extra focus on world-building and includes off-track exploration on foot as well as in-car.

Players play as Aster, who enters the annual racing tournament in hopes to secure healthcare for their mother. Aster is fully customisable, so they can look however the players wanted to, with at least two voice options.

The new gameplay trailer shows how the on-track action is. It’s an arcade racer with wide tracks, big jumps and also some vehicular combat spliced in. The trailer shows a few variants of the car Aster drives, the R180 ‘STAGNUM’.

Resistor will feature body kits and engine parts to collect and they will change the look and feel of the car. That’s the RPG bit in this car game. That, alongside the narrative-heavy focus. You get to see that as a cutscene reveals one of Aster’s rivals in a race.

Resistor has no release date yet but it’s coming to PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), Xbox Series X|S and Switch.
