The recent years have seen a resurgence of old-school 90’s style FPS (or boom shooters, as some folks have started calling it) like Ion Fury, Ultrakill and more.
And if you’re looking for something that’s similar to the original Quake, you might want to check out Wrath: Aeon Of Ruin.
Wrath: Aeon Of Ruin is developed by KillPixel Games and published by purveyours of classic FPS games 3D Realms. This dark-fantasy horror FPS is run by the power of the Quake engine, which explains the aesthetic it has going for.
The developers have released a third update for the game, currently in Early Access. The first hub world will conclude with a new level, The Hollow.
But this will be the last Early Access update as the developers are focusing on making Wrath ready for a full release. When it’s ready, it will have three hub worlds, so there’s still more content to be worked on.
“While delays are never ideal, we wanted to release one awesome final update before going heads down to knock this out of the park,” said Frederik Schreiber, Vice President of 3D Realms and Producer on Wrath.
Wrath: Aeon Of Ruins currently in Steam Early Access, and will launch in full this summer (June 2021 the earliest) for the PS4, PC, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
