President And Co-Founder Of Arkane Studios Steps Down

Did you know that Arkane Studios has been around for almost 18 years? It took them a long while until they landed a mainstream success with Dishonored in 2012.

After that success, Arkane is busy ever since, with the release of Dishonored 2 in November of last year and then the new game Prey (that isn’t related to the previous Prey game or its sequel) last month in May. The team has since been split into two studios, with Harvey Smith leading the Austin team, in charge of Dishonored 2 and a new team in Lyon led by Raphael Colantonio, which handled Prey.

Today however, was the announcement that Colantonio will part ways with the company, on a positive note. “It is time for me to step out to spend some time with my son and reflect on what is important to me and my future,” he mentioned in his official message, found here.

Colantonio will remain in Lyon until a new management team transition into his role.

Arkane in the past has always been making interesting games, but never reached huge mainstream success. After signing with Bethesda’s parent company ZeniMax and the release of Dishonored, with both Smith and Colantonio acting as co-game directors, would the studio reaches success.

It’s a good time to take a bow, with Prey being a critical hit. Arkane will continue to be busy as they are releasing a standalone expansion for Dishonored, titled Dishonored: Death Of The Outsider, this September.
