Phoenix Point, The XCOM-Like Strategy Game From The Creator Of X-COM, Gets Delayed To December

Snapshot Games’ first product, the crowdfunded strategy game Phoenix Point, hits another snag as it has to be delayed again to December. It was supposed to come out on September 3rd.

As explained in their official forums, the reason cited for the additional three months of development time is for further polishing. And also to avoid crunch.

“While the development team is working hard, and Phoenix Point is shaping up really well, we now know we’re going to need more time to get it to meet our very high standards,” the statement reads. “As you probably know, Snapshot has a commitment to keep crunch to a minimum – and that is a commitment we take very seriously.”

For backers, the good news is that a new backer build will be released on the original release date instead, so it’s something to keep you busy as the game continues its final leg of development.

Phoenix Point is created by Julian Gollop, the original designer behind the X-COM series. With this game, it’s using the foundations of the rebooted XCOM series and brings its own spin to the alien invasion defence premise. The aliens you face will evolve over time to counter your choice of attacks, and there’s faction to befriend, for example. It recently became an Epic Games Store exclusive.

Phoenix Point will be out in December for PC (Epic Games Store).
