One of the two Los Angeles-based franchises in the Overwatch League has announced its branding today and it’s from Immortals. Their team in the Overwatch League will now be known as the Los Angeles Valiant.
Rather than paying homages to their base cities like Dallas Fuel and San Francisco Shock are doing, the Los Angeles Valiant takes a more general theming that ties more closely to the esports organisation.
“Clearly there is synergy between our Immortals and Valiant brands,” remarked Clinton Foy, Immortals Chairman and CrossCut Ventures Managing Director. “The helmet, to us, represents the combination of aggressiveness and protection. That’s how we feel about Immortals, and how we’ve worked with our fans to grow that brand over the last two years.
“We’ve pushed, we’ve made changes, we’ve grown remarkably quickly, yet at the same time, we safeguard our core values and protect those values at all costs. We plan to take that same approach in Overwatch League.”
The Valiant will be donning the gold and green colours.
Immortals have seen success in various esports games, though recently they have been rejected a slot for the upcoming North American League of Legends Championship Series (NA LCS) season which they have been part of since 2015. Some of the reason being cited were their involvement in the Overwatch League as well as its recent finances.
