Overwatch Getting Another Seasonal Update: Halloween Terror, With New Seasonal Cosmetics And Brawl

Overwatch just got s bit of new content via another seasonal event update. Similar to the Summer Games last season, we are getting a Halloween-themed event running from October 11 to November 1. Halloween Terror, as it’s called, brings new cosmetics to earn and a 4-player co-op Brawl.

The highlight of the many cosmetics are the new seasonal skins, with legendary skins for Junkrat, Roadhog, Mercy, Reaper. New purple skins, victory poses, voice lines, sprays and highlight intros are also available.

In case you feel a bit iffy about the seasonal loot boxes like the most of us, then here’s some good news. This time, the Halloween cosmetics can also be unlocked throughout the event by spending in-game coins, but at triple the normal price. So voice lines are worth 75 instead of 25, and legendary skins requires a whopping 3000 instead of the usual 1000. Still, at least there’s a chance to still get a desired cosmetic without entirely relying on RNG.

Aside from that, a new 4-player PvE (co-op) brawl will take place. A team of four consisting of Soldier: 76, McCree, Hanzo and Ana will have to defend against a horde of zomnics and then face of Dr. Junkenstien and his monster. Sounds like an interesting take for a brawl. Plus, several maps will be decorated with a bit of Halloween spookiness to them.

But one question remains: “¿Quién es Sombra?” If you follow the rumour mill, or at least subscribe to some YouTube channel doing Overwatch content, you might saw a supposedly leaked picture of her. She is nowhere to be seen in the new update, aside from the logo of hers on a candy of the Halloween loot boxes, but rest assured, that a new hero is coming pretty soon. Game Director Jeff Kaplan hinted in a recent developer update that a new hero is coming “sooner rather than later”. Whoever the new hero will be, expect more news to come in the following weeks. We probably see someone new in the PTR by Blizzcon, but it would be a surprise trick (or treat) if gets dropped in the middle of the event.

The Halloween Terror update should be live to PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The update also rolls out some features being tested in the recent PTR patch, with balance changes to Ana, Widowmaker and Junkrat staying in tact, new spectator mode features, in-game leaderboards, some UI tweaks, new aiming modes for controllers and more. Patch notes are available here.
