At CES 2020, Sony held a press conference where the Playstation 4 and the upcoming Playstation 5 were discussed. Nothing of note, outside of an official logo reveal.
And to no one’s surprise, it’s like the PS4, PS3, and PS Vita but with a number 5. At least it’s now official. And props to Sony for being consistent with their branding, unlike some other brand.
(Of course, our guess of the next-gen Playstation name was widely off the mark)
SIE President Jim Ryan was on stage recapping the features of the PS5- all we have known so far in regards to gaming. 3D audio support, haptics and adaptive triggers via a new controller redesign, ultra-high speed SSD and hardware-based ray-tracing. Also, the PS5 will support Ultra HD Blu-Ray. Nothing new and significant.
More information will be detailed in the coming months. The PS5 will be launching this holiday season (end of the year).
