Nintendo Switch 2 Releasing On June 26 In Singapore, Thailand, Philippines – No Date For Malaysia Yet

Nintendo has locked in a date for the release of the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console in Southeast Asia.

The Switch 2 will be available on June 26 in Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines.

Previously, Nintendo estimated the launch of the Switch 2 in the SEA region will be much later than the global launch, slated for June 6. It was expected to arrive between July and September.

However, there is one country missing here in the announcement: Malaysia. Nintendo was set to launch the console in four countries in Southeast Asia, but it looks like Malaysia has missed the boat and will be getting later shipments.

Update 30/05/25: Lowyat.net reports that the Switch 2 is currently undergoing SIRIM certification in Malaysia. This is a certification process for all electric and electronic appliance officially sold in Malaysia must comply to. So it’s definitely coming, just a bit later. Original story follows.

Multiple comments on the Facebook post announcement shared disappointment that Malaysia isn’t getting an official Switch 2 release yet.

Nintendo has not made much presence in Southeast Asia officially, though through partnerships with local distributors (like Convergent in Malaysia), they are looking to improve on this.

The big N also announced that Nintendo e-Shop will finally be available in the Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines and Malaysia alongside the Switch 2 launch, allowing players to purchase digital games and DLCs using local currencies.
