A new, small-ish update to Starfield is now available. The 1.7.36 update is a minor one patch notes length-wise, but it’s at least 2GB on PC.
The main feature added here is an FOV slider. Now you can set your preferred field of view for either first-person view or third-person view. You’ll find in the Accessibility tab of the Options menu.
The update also includes one progress-blocking bug fix, an issue with the “Echoes Of The Past” quest in particular.
Other than that, expect some performance improvements across all platforms, and on PC running Intel Arc GPUs in particular.
If you’re playing on the Microsoft Store version (i.e. the Game Pass one), and you have mods installed, the update will reset the Starfield.ini file. Check that file again and do the “Archive Invalidation” step and that should get most of the mods to be working again, unless the update breaks that mod you’re having issues with.
This update has checked one promised feature off its laundry list of promised features outlined previously. Now we wait for Nvidia DLSS and ultrawide monitor support, brightness and HDR settings, and that one-button prompt to consume consumables.
Starfield is out now on Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam, Microsoft Store). The game is also available on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass. Check out our review of the game here.
