New Dev Diary For Flintlock: The Siege Of Dawn Talks How New Zealand Inspired Its Visual Direction

The developer of Ashen, A44 Games, is going big with its upcoming game Flintlock: The Siege Of Dawn. The indie studio, part of Kepler Interactive, is making an action-RPG with visuals you expect from a AAA game production.

This new dev diary video, Art Director, Robert Bruce, and Principal Environment Artist, Steven Chen shares insights into how they are creating Flintlock’s world, and it’s pretty much inspired by the studio’s backyard in New Zealand.

A44 Games is also making use of Unity’s MetaHuman Creator, a tool that allows them to create realistic human characters, and a really useful tool to have for a small studio that may not have the people power dedicated in creating such character models from scratch.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is coming out later this year for the PS4, PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It will also be coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one of launch.
