Mutant Year Zero: Road To Eden Announced, An XCOM-Like Strategy Game

Turn-based tactical strategy is seeing a surge in popularity, the genre the new XCOM and Fire Emblem series has trailblazed in recent years. Another game is coming up that falls into the same genre. New developers Bearded Ladies announced Mutant Year Zero: Road To Eden, based on the Mutant series of tabletop RPGs.

Based on the information on its official website, it is billed to be inspired by XCOM, so expect cover-based shooting gameplay with some abilities thrown in for measure. But outside of the combat, it will play like an isometric RPG, where you travel around this post-human world – you can even stealth through locations to avoid combat or get the perfect pre-emptive strike.

The CG reveal trailer shows off the three characters of the party which includes a duck and a pig mutants. They even played it for laughs.

Published by Funcom, Mutant Year Zero: Road To Eden is expected to release sometime this year on PS4, PC and Xbox One.
