While the Mass Effect series is all about Commander Shepard, Mass Effect: Andromeda, the upcoming sequel to the popular trilogy of RPG/third-person shooter will have a brand new cast of characters. Since the game will be set 600 years after the events Mass Effect 2 in 2185. With most of the main cast in the trilogy fending off the Reapers for Mass Effect 3, assume most of the characters to not return for the journey to Andromeda.
You will be playing as either Scott or Sarah Ryder. You pick either of them and can customise the character’s appearance, but both pair of twins will still play a role in the story. Not only that, we also learned that the twins are rather inexperienced at the start of the game, with the father, Alec Ryder, being the Pathfinder and brandishing the N7 armour. This just confirmed our theory of Pathfinders have N7 soldier training.
Interestingly, the voice cast for the three members of the Ryder family reflects the experience of the characters in-game as well. Based on the article over at Game Informer, Scott Ryder is voiced by Tom Taylorson and Sarah Ryder is voiced by Fryda Wolff. Both voice actors appeared in indie game Octodad: Dadliest Catch, but Fryda Wolff has a longer list of voice appearances, including as the narrator in Civilization: Beyond Earth. Alec Ryder has a more famous voice behind in the form of Clancy Brown, who has had a long list of Hollywood movie appearances and also most known for the voice of Mr. Krabs from Spongebob Squarepants.
A mix of new talent to carry the series forward and tried and true veterans. It will be interesting to see the rest of the main cast be revealed later. We at least know that an Asari will be joining the party based on the revealed footage so far.
