More Games for PS Vita In the future!

“Great games are still coming to PS Vita” – Shuhei Yoshida (President of Sony’s Worldwide Studios for Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.) during an interview with GameSpot at the recent Paris Games Week.

It seems that Sony is still keeping it real in making more games for this portable device despite prior statements from Sony claiming first-party development for Vita had ceased.

“I’ve been pretty honest saying our focus has shifted to PS4 and PlayStation VR, it’s not like we don’t have any development at all,” Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida told GameSpot at Paris Games Week. “We do, but our focus is on PS4 and PlayStation VR, and we are happy to see third-parties and indies support it.”

Yoshida was then asked whether or not he sees a future for the platform beyond 2016, to which he replied: “Yeah I do, but we have to see. Nowadays, still people are excited and using Vita very frequently, it’s a great portable gaming system. As long as there is a demand, why not?”

Earlier this year at E3, Yoshida told IGN Sony wasn’t making any new large-scale Vita games, saying: “To be honest, I wouldn’t say we will have big AAA Vita games from first party.” As such, it stands to reason the company may have a few smaller first-party titles planned for its handheld device instead.
