MCMC To Ban Fight Of Gods Over Religious Icon Usage

Oh boy, this is not looking good.

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will be asking Valve to disable downloads for Malaysians to the Early Access title Fight of Gods over complains from many local religious leaders due to the usage of religious icons, which the leaders say is degrading towards religion as a whole.

Communications and Multimedia Minister, Mr. Salleh Said Keruak said that Steam has 24 hours to comply, failing which will result in further action. According to MCMC, this game under offence of Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (which can lead to imprisonment if convicted, mind you)The minster also said that the game is “a huge threat to racial unity and harmony”and “It is in the public interest to ensure that immediate steps are taken so that such contents do not continue to harm others“.

Anyway, Fight of Gods is a fighting game made by Taiwanese developer,Digital Crafter which include Gods, Holy spirits and mythological characters from around the world dueling in a 1v1 fight. It’s a pretty okay fighting game from our point of view and many Steam users seems to agree as well with many positive reviews currently but with this controversy, it seems that this game might garner more attention that the devs expected it to be, that’s for sure.
