Looter-Slasher Godfall Gameplay Revealed In Two New Trailers

Godfall, the upcoming next-gen looter-slasher from Counterplay Games and published by Gearbox, gets two new gameplay trailers this week.

One is from the PS5 reveal stream. It’s more of a quick sizzle reel of the flashy attacks and weapons you can wield, to the beat of a bopping hip-hop tune. This footage is running on a PS5.

In Godfall, you are god-like warriors called Valorian Knights that can equip Valorplate that gives you those flashy melee moves. You are here to topple the mad god Macros.

It’s a looter-slasher, blending loot-based RPG with an extensive skill-based combat.

At the 2020 PC Gaming Show, there’s a more subdued gameplay trailer, with developer commentary. It’s not proper gameplay with all the HUD elements in place, but definitely looks representative to what to expect from the game. This trailer represents how the PC version would look like, which is more or less the same with the PS5.

Despite presenter Day9 saying upfront that it’s running in the new Unreal Engine 5, it’s not, as PC Gamer (and the Godfall official Twitter) later corrected. It’s running on Unreal Engine 4.

Still, the shiny armour and the many sparks and particles make for a spectacle. Though a bit choppy on the framerate side, judging from the two trailers.

Godfall will be out later this year for the PS5 and PC (Epic Games Store).
