Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name Releasing This November

Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, the new spin-off game featuring the former face of the Like A Dragon series Kazuma Kiryu, now has a release date.

The new trailer debuted at the Summer Game Fest 2023 opening showcase see an extended look at the person formerly known as Kiryu (who now goes as Joryu or outright says he has no name anymore).

Taking place after Yakuza 6: Song Of Life, but possibly before Yakuza Like A Dragon (the 7th mainline game), codename Joryu must face a new threat that is trying to get him out of hiding. The game will take place in two locations: Sotenbori and Yokohama. So expect to see familiar places seen in previous games.

Like A Dragon Gaiden will bring back the character-action brawler style of gameplay, as Joryu here can switch between two styles: Yakuza and Agent. The Agent style brings out some new gadgetry, including the ability to shoot out electric bind wires.

Based on the Steam store page, confirmed mini-games include a secret Battle arena, karaoke (with new songs), “live-action cabaret club” and, to the delight of 90s kids everywhere, pocket circuit racing.

Like A Dragon Gaiden is the second Ryu Ga Gotoku game to release this year, and the second to use the name “Like A Dragon” as the franchise name rather than Yakuza.

Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name will be available on November 8 for PS4, PS5, PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
