The Xbox Games Showcase 2023 took a different turn when Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio presents their latest trailer for what was formerly announced as Like A Dragon 8.
That mainline game for the newly rechristened Like A Dragon series is now called Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth (there’s an infinity symbol in there which is just the figure of 8 turned 90 degrees). And we know this is the mainline series’ game, now an RPG, because we see protagonist Kasuga Ichiban here.
And boy do we see a lot of him.
If Yakuza: Like A Dragon’s events saw our middle-aged Dragon Quest fan down in the dumps, literally, well in this direct sequel, he discovers life’s a beach.
For some reason unknown at this time, he is butt-naked, stranded in front of a beach, and everyone is speaking American English (not because it’s an English dub, mind, as Kasuga is speaking Japanese here in this trailer). No, there were no babies or ominous floating bodies thankfully.
Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth was first revealed with a badass trailer where Kasuga and former series frontman Kazuma Kiryu (with a new hairstyle for some reason) walking side-by-side. Well, this comedic trailer has put him back down to rock bottom.
Expect to learn more about Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, as well as Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name in the upcoming RGG Summit on June 16, 11 AM Malaysia Time, +8 GMT. The event will be livestreamed on Sega’s YouTube and Twitch.
Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth is targeting an Early 2024 release.
