Hycan V09 Razer Edition Is A “Mobile Esports Fortress” Concept EV

At the Shanghai Auto Show 2023, Chinese electric vehicle brand Hycan introduced a concept car that will surely draw the eyes of gamers, a Razer-branded minivan called the Hycan V09 Razer Edition.

The concept car is a collab between Hycan, gaming peripheral and lifestyle brand Razer and esports team EDG, to create a “mobile esports fortress designed for gamers and esports enthusiasts”.

The design uses feedback and insight from insights from esports enthusiasts on what they want out of a car.

Calling it a fortress isn’t exaggerating. Folks in Southeast Asia (and more recently players in Gran Turismo 7) are familiar with these formidable, imposing luxury minivans or MPVs can be. Now have it be jet black with bright green trims and a Razer logo on the side.

And while the outside exterior is imposing, the inside is a luxury ride for four passengers, especially for the two in the back seats (that looks like a Razer gaming seat). There is 1,301mm- more than a meter- of vertical space and 2,834mm of front and rear space. Enough space to squeeze in two monitors and two PC setups at the back for gaming.

The Hycan V09 Razer Edition doesn’t seem to have any ambient lighting, though- a cool new trend in the automotive world where the interior can have customised coloured lighting. Or in gamer parlance, RGB lighting.

Other technical specs include the following:

  • 750km driving range
  • newly upgraded H-VIP 3.0 smart driving and connected system
  • 6,000W bidirectional charging
  • 2,200W in-car charging

Hycan’s exploration into this concept is to offer its vehicles as the “third space”- the first and second being home and workplace.

It’s a fascinating collaboration. Since it’s a concept car, don’t expect the Hycan V09 Razer Edition to be sold anytime soon. But Hycan, EDG and Razer are still open for more collabs in the future.

There’s definitely a crossover where auto enthusiasts and gamers- racing games remain a popular niche genre to this day, and it’s more than likely that some are at the age where they are in the market for a crossover vehicle.
