Milestone announced the sequel to Hot Wheels Unleashed, Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 Turbocharged. The upcoming arcade racing game will see more vehicle types with motorcycles and ATVs join the cast of diecast racers of over 130 vehicles.
Not only that, but you can expect to see more races where you go off the iconic orange tracks, unleashed some might even say. And it’s not just off to shiny floors like the first game. Off-roading where different surfaces affect vehicle performance differently will be a thing.
Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 will also allow you to jump and do lateral dashing. This should allow more opportunities to uncover shortcuts, as well as fight back by slamming opponents on the side, and avoid obstacles.
The Career Mode is back, but this time there will be characters and animated cutscenes to spruce things up. So some semblance of a story is being added here.
The Track Editor will bring new special modules, while the Livery Editor is updated to include a Sticker Editor for players to create, save and, most importantly, share their original creations. Or recreations of famous anime characters,
Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 Turbocharged will also include cross-platform online multiplayer across all platforms except the Switch, with two-player split-screen available for local multiplayer.
Between Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 Turbocharged and Lego 2K Drive, 2023 looks like a good year for arcade racers, in particular arcade racers with an established toy brand associated with it. Hot Wheels Unleashed was a standout release, so there are high hopes that Milestone can keep the streak up with this new release.
Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 Turbocharged will be out on October 19 for the PS4, PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
