Here is the Lenovo IdeaCentre Y710 Cube, Lenovo’s Latest Gaming Desktop

Lenovo just launched its latest gaming desktop in Malaysia. Lenovo is more known for its laptops and currently it’s smartphones, but their gaming offering has always been modest in priced compared to the competition while packing decent firepower under the hood. With the recent Lenovo Game On event, they are now comfortable promoting their top-line Y series from just multimedia usage to full-fledged gaming machines for gamers.

This small box is the latest of the Y series, joining the Lenovo IdeaPad 500, IdeaPad Y500, IdeaCentre Y700 and IdeaCentre Y900. The deaCentre Y710 Cube sits comfortably between the two tower desktop offerings. Powered by Intel i7-6700 CPU, an NVIDIA GeForce 1070 GTX, 2TB of storage with a starting price of RM6,099, it’s a decent price for a gaming desktop by an OEM. The 8GB of DDR4 RAM might not be enough though.

Which should not be a problem since the Y710 Cube is designed to be easily opened without any need of tools (yes, you can just twist the screws by hand) and it has enough clearing inside to fit in parts and adjust any of the innards to your liking. Like any desktop PC should.

It’s not that small, but the Y710 Cube is pretty compact for a desktop.

While the cubic-ish design looks nice, it’s not as compact or small as say Acer’s Predator G1, but it is compact compared to the other IdeaCentre desktops offered, and the hinge on top makes it easy enough to lug it around. Even the power supply is built inside it, so all you need to carry is the cube. Perfect for LAN parties or those who don’t reside in just one home. A special deal for the Malaysia market is also offered for those who buy the Y710 Cube: 3 years of warranty and a “precision mouse”.

If you’re looking for a gaming desktop in the market without the hassle of building your own, this is a pretty sweet deal on paper. Two more variants will be arriving by Q1 2017, one offering a scaled down performance (Intel i5, 1050 GTX) and one with better firepower packed inside (Intel i7, 1080 GTX).
