Halo Infinite Confirmed To Be A Direct Sequel To Halo 5

It's Halo 6

Halo Infinite was revealed at E3 2018 as part of Microsoft’s media showcase and it left more questions than answer. At least one of the question- whether it is a spin-off or a direct sequel- has been answered by developers 343 Industries.

On a social stream by the developers on Mixer, Jeff Easterling of 343 Industries answered a question regarding Halo Infinite. “It is Halo 6,” he said.

“You should just consider it Halo 6. Don’t think of it as a weird prequel kind of thing. It’s the next story. It’s the next chapter in what is going on.”

The stream archive is here, the question was answered at the 1:22:20 mark.

Halo Infinite will be powered by the new Slipspace Engine and in its teaser, features Master Chief in his older Spartan armour seen in the first games, which led to the speculation whether this is either a spin-off or a direct continuation. Looks like 343 Industries are taking a bold step for its sequel after Halo 5: Guardians did not pan out as well as expected.
