Gran Turismo 7, Next God Of War Also Coming To PS4 As Cross-Gen Releases

In surprising news, PlayStation Studios will still bring first-party games to the PS4, including games that were previously announced as PS5 exclusives.

An interview with PlayStation Studios head Herman Hulst on the PlayStation Blog today revealed that two more previously announced PS5 exclusives will be coming to PS4: Gran Turismo 7 and the next God Of War (likely to be called God Of War: Ragnarok).

The reason for that is simple. “You can’t build a community of over 110 million PS4 owners and then just walk away from it, right?” Hulst said in the interview. “I think that’d be bad news for fans of PS4, and frankly not very good business.”

GT7 and the next God Of War will be joining Horizon: Forbidden West as cross-gen PS4-PS5 games. The three games have previous entries on the PS4.

However, there will still be PS5 “showpieces”, Hulst described Returnal and the upcoming Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart to be as such, and that also means those games will remain a PS5 exclusive for now.

It’s good news for the folks (like us here) who are unable to get a PS5 yet. It may sound like a bummer for early adopters to have these big titles as pure PS5 exclusives, but rest assured the bump in graphics power on the next-gen console should still be worth it. And for those within the 110 million that can’t get a PS5, we don’t have to miss out on the zeitgeist for these upcoming games.
