Another new seasonal event for Overwatch is now starting today. Despite early rumours predicting some kind of Valentine event, the seasonal event is actually celebrating the Chinese New Year (or otherwise known elsewhere as Lunar New Year). Like all previous seasonal events, new cosmetic items can be earned throughout the event and a new brawl is available with one map this time being decorated for the festive which is, predictably, Lijiang Tower.
Check out the trailer below:
Plenty of cool new skins, with Mei and D.Va getting some cultural appropriate ones to suit the occasion and some skins being inspired from Journey To The West. But the best surprise is the new brawl, Capture The Rooster. It’s the Overwatch take on Capture The Flag, a mode Blizzard have finally made to work despite initial worries of unbalanced teams and heroes.
The new update also adds some new features previously seen on the PTR, namely the ability to pick and use more than one emote and spray as well as visible health bars in the third-person when spectating. Some balancing was done as well, with nerfs to D.Va and Ana and Roadhog’s hook rework being implemented now.
If you don’t have the time to play and earn the special loot boxes over the holidays, fret not. The Year Of The Rooster event will last until February 13.
