Gearbox Software Not Giving Up On Competitive Games, Announced Project 1V1

Remember Battleborn? That was Gearbox Software’s first foray into a multiplayer-focused game. Of course, as we all know, it didn’t do well- the game now is sort-of free-to-play with only a small loyal fanbase.

But that doesn’t mean the team is giving up on the idea of making competitive multiplayer games. The studio announced a new titled currently called Project 1V1 that will combine frantic FPS action with the meta-driven strategy of card games.

That sounds like an odd combination, but if you like the sound of it, the game will begin testing in the next few months, interested players can sign up though it will be more focused for folks from North America.

Let’s jut hope that Gearbox’s second attempt to make a competitive multiplayer game does not detract from their upcoming looter-shooter Borderlands 3. The game has yet to be properly announced, but we have seen some glimpses of new tech that will be powering the new entry of the FPS/RPG hybrid.
