Frontier Is Developing A Warhammer Age Of Sigmar RTS

At the Skulls 2023 showcase, Frontier Developments has announced that they are making an RTS based on the Warhammer Age Of Sigmar universe.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin will see four factions featured in the RTS, with a story-driven single-player campaign, and support for 1v1 and 2v2 online multiplayer. With cross-platform support. Yes, it’s also coming to consoles as well as on PC.

Realms Of Ruin has been developed targeting console and PC simultaneously. The controller controls includes what’s being dubbed “DirectStep” where the analog sticks and button presses are enough to let players issue orders, quickly cycle through squads and issue orders.

PC Players should expect a familiar control scheme using mouse and keyboards.

Only two of the four playable factions have been revealed. The Stormcast Eternals (essentially Age Of Sigmar’s Space Marines) and the Kruleboyz, part of the Orruk Warclans.

Frontier previously released Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters, as a publisher. For this Warhammer game, Frontier is developing it directly.

Frontier has experience with space games (Elite Dangerous), park builder and management sims (Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo, Jurrasic World Evolution, F1 Manager). So an RTS looks like a new frontier for Frontier.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin will be available on PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), Xbox Series X|S. No release date is set yet. But interested players can register on the official site for upcoming multiplayer betas.
