From Software Has Three Different Projects In Development, Including A New Armored Core

We have heard that Dark Souls developer From Software is moving away from the series, but at a recent interview at Tokyo Game Show by IGN, From Software’s president Hidetaka Miyazaki has confirmed that there are working on three different games, including Armored Core.

But for fans of Dark Souls, fret not as the other of the three games would be something revolving dark fantasy. The last one will be weird. The quote goes: “The last thing is that another title will probably be a little bit weird. When we actually announce the title, probably fans will react with ‘oh, what the hell is this very weird game that Miyazaki has created?'”.

The statement from Miyazaki is vague in nature, but IGN pressed on to got him confirm that a mech game that they have in the works is actually Armored Core. No additional details are on offer.

Armored Core is a long line series of games about mech customisation and battles, and for the longest time was From Software’s claim to fame until Demons’ Souls and Dark Souls broke from just cult hit status to mainstream success. The amount of customisation and stat balancing to the mechs, the titular Armored Cores, were astounding but the series were hampered with bland environment design and predictable missions.

With the success of Dark Souls and its immaculate environment design, maybe they have now the expertise to do Armored Core justice? But for those who expect something else, rest assured that From Software are busy in the works, though don’t expect them anytime soon. “There are still several obstacles we need to overcome to launch those new titles, so we’re not sure how many more years we need to build those, but we’re looking forward to making an announcement in the future,” said Miyazaki.
