Announced a few months back as one of the Xbox titles coming to Windows 10, now we have some details on the upcoming Forza Motorsport 6 Apex, a free, “curated” version of the Xbox One exclusive.
On the official site for Forza Motorsport, Forza Motorsport 6 Apex will launch on May 5th as an open beta. 63 cars will be included, a career mode and “Spotlight Series” events that will updated regularly. The game will have a new set of Xbox Live achievements not tied to the Xbox One version, and Race Points where you are encouraged to turn off assists.
However, developers Turn 10 have outlined that several features won’t be included in the beta. Steering wheel support will be coming later, as well as disabling V-sync (a common Universal Windows App problem) and an in-app frame counter. There will be no online multiplayer and livery design editor, but the wording on the site suggests that it isn’t planned to be included in Apex.
Also, check out the system requirements to run the game:
You’ll need a beast of a PC to just run the game in minimum specs it seems. Interestingly, there’s not really a large gap from the recommended specs to the ideal 4K specs.
Remember, if you want to check out the open beta, you’ll need a Windows 10 PC. Forza Motorsport 6 Apex will be available to download via the Windows Store app when it arrives on May 5th .
