First-Party PlayStation Games Will Now Carry The New PlayStation Studios Brand

PS5 details are still scant these days, but Sony has revealed another small change that will affect the next-gen console, and current-gen PS4.

There will now be a new branding called PlayStation Studios. This logo and variants of its splash screen will be slapped on all games developed and managed by Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) Worldwide Studios.

Note that there will be various versions of this opening animation, some much shorter, but it’s a quick way to tell if the game is made by Sony’s strong lineup of first-party developers.

It may be obvious what games are first-party for most of us that follow the industry, but for the mainstream folks- this is a much clearer way to tell at a glance.

The PlayStation Studios branding will also appear on games that may be primarily done by other developers, but is under Sony supervision.

The branding from the opening animation evokes something you would see at the start of a Marvel movie. And, coincidentally, the branding also looks similar to Microsoft’s approach to their first-party developer branding as well.

You won’t see the PlayStation Studios branding on this SIE’s upcoming releases, like The Last Of Us Part II, Ghost Of Tsushima and Horizon: Zero Dawn’s PC port. But you will see it in future PS4 and PS5 games.
