Have you finally become one with the AC and finished a playthrough of Armored Core VI Fires Of Rubicon? Congratulations! But that’s not the end of your journey, Raven, it’s the start of a new one.
Armored Core VI has New Game+. It doesn’t state it explicitly, but you enter a new run immediately after the credits roll. But this time around, there are extra content you don’t see in the first run. This is first hinted with ALLMIND greeting you with “Raven, you have returned” rather than “Welcome back, Raven”.
(You don’t need to do the first mission and face off against the Rubicopter again, thankfully.)
As you continue to play in this second run, you’ll find new missions, missions that has been changed, as well as new parts. Did you ever have a look at “Cinder” Carla’s AC and have a giggle at all the part names and notice you don’t have any of them? These parts, among others, are locked behind a second playthrough.
And not only that, the Arena has extra fights too.
Also, curious about the other Raven AC, Nightfall? You can unlock the part to make the first AC we see in the reveal trailer only in New Game+. Apparently there’s only one part missing, it’s the iconic head. The rest of the frame is essentially the same as the starter AC, Loader 4.
Those should be good reasons to finish another playthrough of AC VI. And that’s not to mention the two other endings you can get. One of which requires another playthrough after New Game+, that’s New Game++, which has a few more extra missions unlocked.
These extra missions are remarkably tougher, unforgiving and should really feel familiar to fans of the series in the way it is structured. There are more AC versus AC fights. One mission that seemed rather too simply, in particular the encounter with Nightfall, is entirely replaced in future playthroughs with an even tougher fight. And some of them requires you to do specific objectives that can be frustrating, like searching for devices to be destroyed under a time limit while enemies are shooting at you non-stop. Or an escort mission (gasp!). Or an anti-escort mission where you must not allow targets to leave the combat area that will test your AC’s flight capabilities.
Armored Core VI Fires Of Rubicon is out now on PS4, PS5, PC (Steam), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. You can find our review of the game here.
