EA Sports FC 24 Shows First Gameplay Trailer

EA Sports FC 24, the full title of this year’s football/soccer game by EA Sports, gets its first gameplay trailer. Though by the way it’s presented you don’t really think of it that way, which may be the point.

The trailer features a lot of close-up shots of footballers, men and women, dribbling, passing and shooting balls into the direction of the goal. The trailer is shot like a CG trailer, but not quite, which means this looks to be using in-game assets.

There is a short snippet of proper in-game gameplay with all the UI. But very, very short.

EA Sports FC 24 has three core technologies that are the main selling point for this year’s entry:

  • HyperMotionV: “[translates] the rhythm and fluidity of real-world football into The World’s Game using volumetric data from more than 180 professional men’s and women’s football matches that allows us to reflect real-world movement in-game more than ever before (only available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC)
  • PlayStyles optimised by Opta dimensionalises athletes, going beyond overall ratings to bring to life the on-pitch abilities that make players special. Each PlayStyle gives players unique capabilities you’ll see and feel that make their way of playing more authentic
  • Enhanced Frostbite Engine

The first two sounds either something genuinely interesting, or a load of buzzwords.

For some tangible new features, EA Sports FC 24 will allow men and women to play on the same pitch for the first time. And this will extend into Ulitmate Team, where you can include women footballers as part of your winning eleven.

EA Sports FC 24 will also feature all the UEFA competitions, that inlcudes UEFA Champions League, UEFA Women’s Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League and UEFA Super Cup. EA and UEFA has renewed their exclusivity deal with UEFA.

And lastly, despite already revealing the Ultimate Edition cover, we only know now who is the cover star for this year’s game. It’s none other than Norway and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

EA Sports FC 24 will be out on September 29 for the PS4, PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, EA App), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
