We finally got it. After long months of teasing and clan reveals, now we got the first gameplay of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2.
A bit of it was shown on the PC Gaming Show, as was teased before, but Paradox Interactive has an extended footage of the gameplay. And good news: the gameplay looks a lot like an immersive sim, or rather, like Bloodlines 1.
The trailer has just enough setup for newcomers to get hooked on the game. You have now turned into an undead vampire and is now exposed to the many dealings vampires do in the shadows unbeknown to humans- thanks to The Masquerade.
The trailer walks you through a quest you can do: finding the Thinblood Slugg. Then you get to see a Nosferatu informant that leads to more info on how to get to Slugg. Small bits of gunplay, melee and vampire powers are seen in action here. Once you caught up with the target appear, a good old list of dialogue trees appear, some of which requires good old skill checks.
The city of Seattle in eternal night looks amazing, the voice acting is up to snuff, though there is a noticeable lack of animation polish. This is gameplay from a pre-alpha build, so there’s room for improvement. And if does turn out a little janky, at least they’ve put resources on more important matters already.
Bloodlines 2 is still set to release in Q1 2020 for the PS4, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, Paradox Store) and Xbox One.
