E3 2018: Daemon X Machina Is A Switch Mecha Game That’s Basically Armored Core

A dream team from Marvelous First Studio

At Nintendo’s E3 Nintendo Direct, a new mecha game called Daemon X Machina was announced. Developed by Marvellous First Studios, who are also working on God Eater 3, it features a stunning high-contrast artstyle with mech designs heavily reminiscent of From Software’s Armored Core series.

Apparently it is not a coincidence. Kenichiro Tsukuda was a producer of the early Armored Core games. Shoji Kawamori, responsible for the mechanical concept designs, has credits from Macross to the original Transformers and also the early Armored Cores.

The rest of the announced development team are directors Ken Awata and Ken Karube (Monster Hunter: Stories) character designer Yusuke Kozaki (Fire Emblem) and composers Junichi Nakatsuru (Soul Calibur) and Rio Hamamoto (Tekken).

It looks pretty much like an Armored Core game at first glance if you are familiar with the series, which is a solid mecha action game in its heydays. The mechs are also customisable, which is another hook of Armored Core.

Have a look:

Daemon X Machina will be out sometime next year for the Nintendo Switch.
