Dragon Age: The Veilguard Gets A Cinematic Trailer Ahead Of Gameplay Reveal

EA and Bioware have given a head’s up that Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the new name for Dragon Age Dreadwolf, will have a dedicated gameplay reveal outside of the usual summer showcase events, but that doesn’t mean it won’t appear at any of the summer showcases.

In fact, a trailer of Dragon Age: The Veilguard was present at the Xbox Games Showcase 2024. The CG trailer highlights the seven companions that will be the player character’s companions. Each having a big title name card.

The companions revealed in the Dragon Age: The Veilguard trailer are:

  • Harding – “The Scout”
  • Neve – “The Detective”
  • Lucanis – “The Mage Killer”
  • Bellara – “The Veil Jumper”
  • Emmrich – “The Necromancer”
  • Davrin – “The Warden”
  • Taash – “The Dragon Hunter”

The seven companions (and potential lovers) all come from various races and classes. One of them is a returning cast from a past game- remember the Scout Harding, the dwarf lady NPC who greets the player each time they enter a new open world map in Dragon Age Inquisition? That’s her.

Meanwhile Emmrich, Lucanis and Neve have been mentioned in Dragon Age extended media, specifically the short story compilation and comic.

The companions have been touted loudly as The Veilguard’s biggest selling point. Past Bioware games have crafted memorable companions that fans grow to love, though titles like Mass Effect Andromeda and Anthem did not deliver on this aspect. Should The Veilguard nails its character writing, maybe Bioware is back.

We should be seeing a gameplay reveal of Dragon Age: The Veilguard on June 11. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is releasing later this year (Fall/Q4) on PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store) and Xbox Series X|S.
