Deus Ex On Hiatus? Eidos Montreal Now Busy With Tomb Raider And Marvel Franchises

Reports gathered from the folks at Eurogamer has found that due to the influx of new projects and the low sales from Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, the studio right now is shifting to work on other projects while putting the Deus Ex franchise on hold.

Mankind Divided was a solid game, but it ends on an unsatisfactory note. It happens that the game’s story had to be split as it grew larger in scope, thus the five year wait between Mankind Divided and Eidos Montreal’s first take on the rebooted Deus Ex, Human Revolution.

The developers are now busy working on the next Tomb Raider game, as earlier leaks has reported, as well working with Crystal Dynamics on the Avenger project. Though Eurogamer found that they are also possibly working on a another Marvel related game, based of the Guardians Of The Galaxy.

With all the projects going on, it is safe to assume less resources are put into finishing Deus Ex as a trilogy and wrap up the story. But since the world has not shared a glowing response to the gruff cyborg Adam Jensen’s adventures, expect to see more Lara Croft and Marvel characters in the immediate future.

Here’s Eidos Montreal’s official response on the current situation:

“While we are still working on expanding the Deus Ex Universe, along with creating new content and updates for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, we’re also devoting our talents towards working with Crystal Dynamics and Marvel on The Avengers project.”

In the meanwhile, expect to see one more DLC for Mankind Divided that should arrive next month.
