Dead Rising is an interesting franchise. It was one of the first titles Capcom worked closely with a Western-based studio, and the first game was the Xbox 360’s launch title, showing what the new consoles at the time could do. What we got was a massive mob of horrifying zombies, something we haven’t seen yet, even with Capcom’s Resident Evil titles.
After the success, developers Capcom Vancouver made Dead Rising 2 that was available for Xbox 360 as well as the PS3 and PC. Moving on the next generation, it looks like the series is destined to stick to the Xbox side of the console war as Dead Rising 3 was an Xbox One launch title, then later available for PC. The upcoming Dead Rising 4 will also make its way later this year as an Xbox One exclusive.
That said, having the first two titles coming to PS4 with a promise of 1080p resolution running in 60fps is a decent consolation prize for those who are sticking to Sony’s camp. According to Playstaion’s official blog, Dead Rising 1, 2 and 2: Off The Record (a spin-off where you play the scenario of Dead Rising 2 as Dead Rising 1’s lovable protagonist, Frank West) will be available in the Playstation Store on September 13. A bundle of all three games, the Dead Rising Triple Pack, will also be available.
No word as of yet if the said bundle and games will be released in Asia at the same time, we will keep you posted as the details emerge. (UPDATE 2/9/16: The bundle is now up for pre-orders on the Asian Playstation Store for RM196.71 -normal price at RM237- and will be available on September 14)
