The remaster of the first three Crash Bandicoot is selling like hot cakes, despite all the fuss about how it felt more difficult than the original. Well, good news is the developers of Vicarious Visions will be adding one more level for free. The bad news is: it’s the lost level that was cut from the original game because it’s really hard: Stormy Ascent.
Based from the interview piece on the Playstation Blog, Stormy Ascent was a complete level that was cut just before the original Crash Bandicoot went gold due to its difficulty. It was four times the length of any other level on the disc which poised it as the hardest one level of the original game. The level is playable via the use of Gameshark, a cartridge that enables enables access to various cheats.
If you feel Crash Bandicoot is as hard as Dark Souls, then prepare to die a lot on this level. Even the trailer is embracing its difficulty.
The Stormy Ascent DLC is free for a limited time until August 19. The DLC isn’t live yet in Asia at the time of writing, but we will update the story once it is.
Update 26/7/17: The DLC can now be found at this link here.
