City Builder The Colonists Coming To Nintendo Switch In Asia This December, Now Available For Pre-Order

The Colonists is a city builder by developer Codebyfire and publisher Auroch Digital, first released in 2018 on PC. Earlier this May, the game was released on Nintendo Switch, and now the Switch release is coming to Asia via publisher Leoful.

The Asian release of The Colonists will include “improved” Simplified Chinese and Korean localization, as well as support for Traditional Chinese. Previously supported languages like English, Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian are included in this release as well.

Pre-orders for The Colonists is now available on the Nintendo eShop (Hong Kong and South Korea), with a 10% discount until January 1, 2022. There will be a physical release, available for pre-order in select retailers in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and other Southeast Asia markets.

Nintendo’s support for the rest-of-Asia market is a bit spotty, not all countries in Asia have a dedicated Nintendo eShop, for instance. So it’s always cool to see folks like Leoful providing support in bringing more games into the region, with more language options.

The Colonists has you help a colony of self-replicating robots build a new settlement. Harvest resources, set up farms and food production, go on expeditions to find new land, and research tech as you progress through three different ages. You can play the game peacefully, building up your sprawling settlement, and go on a warmongering campaign to control other AI colonies by military might. There are campaigns as well as a sandbox mode.

The Colonists is inspired by games like The Settlers and the Anno series, so if you’re into that kind of city-builders, this might be up your jam.

The Colonists is coming to Nintendo Switch in Asia on December 17.
