Sega promised a PC client that includes a character creator and benchmarking tool for the upcoming Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis.
The tool is now available to download here.
The standalone client will let you create a character ahead of PSO2 NGS release, and later import it to the game.
All you need to is save the character creation data. Then go to “My Documents”, “SEGA”, “PHANTASYSTARONLINE2_NGS_CHARACTERCREATOR” and copy the save character file to the “PHANTASYSTARONLINE2” folder.
You can then use the Load Character Data option in the main game to import your creation from the standalone character creator client.
The benchmark tool recreates the pre-rendered opening cinematic in real-time.
PSO2 NGS is a new version of the free-to-play MMORPG that will exist alongside base PSO2.
New Genesis features improved graphics (hence, why you might want to benchmark your rig) and also bringing in core changes to the gameplay of PSO2. It’s more open-world (or “open-field” as Sega calls it), combat has been changed significantly too, now with new skills and a better way to use multiple weapons.
If you missed out on the closed beta, this is a good taste of what the new visuals will look like, including the much-improved character creator suite. There are also smaller tweaks and additions in this character creator tool compared to the one seen in the closed beta, like extra character presets, working hair sliders and new default CAST parts.
Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis will launch globally later this June. The global release (i.e. outside Japan) release will be available on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store) and Xbox One.
