Baldur’s Gate 3 Isn’t PlayStation Console Exclusive, Developers Clarify

Baldur’s Gate III was announced last week to release on the PS5 alongside the previously announced PC release. That has led to fans questioning if it will be coming to Xbox, or if it’s another game that has gotten an exclusive deal with PlayStation.

Developers Larian Studios have clarified over on the game’s dedicated subreddit on Reddit about the situation, revealing that the upcoming CRPG’s Xbox release is being worked on.

“We’ve had an Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 in the works for some time, but we have run into some technical issues,” the post reads.

The technical issue was split-screen co-op. On consoles, Baldur’s Gate III will support two-player split-screen co-op, and that in particular isn’t running well on Xbox for now.

“There’s no platform exclusivity preventing us from releasing BG3 on Xbox day and date, should that be a technical possibility,” the post further clarifies.

Baldur’s Gate III will be out on August 31 for the PS5 and PC. And hopefully on Xbox Series X|S not long after.
