Assetto Corsa has been out for four years and has seen continuous updates. The developer, Kunos Simulazioni, are known for making simulators before making sim racing games, which makes the game having realistic physics.
And after four years, we now see a new game. Assetto Corsa Competizione is not billed as a true sequel, but rather as the official game for the Blancpain GT Series featuring GT3 vehicles (featuring Ferraris, Porsches, Lamborghinis and McLarens) with a mix of sprint and endurance races. Competizione will use Unreal Engine 4 this time, which helps adding in dynamic weather conditions like rain and night races. The tracks from the Blancpain GT Series this year will all be featured in its laser-scanned glory, with at least three new tracks for the series.
Interestingly, the multiplayer is getting some enhancements, with driver ratings and matchmaking that will separate judge how fast (and clean) you race like the ones seen in iRacing and Gran Turismo Sport. Expect to see the same races in the Blancpain GT Series to feature, including the Total 24 Hours Of Spa. Yes, a 24-hour race, with driver changes available too.
Assetto Corsa Competizione will be out in Early Access on PC first sometime this summer.
