Apex Legends First Season And Battle Pass Detailed, Adds New Legend Octane

Apex Legends, the free-to-play battle royale by Respawn, finally detailed its first season of Battle Pass.

Called Wild Frontier, the Battle Pass functions similar to Fortnite’s. You level up as you play. Free players get a small set of unlocks, but if you decide to buy the Battle Pass at any time, it will unlock all the rewards up to your current level. So you can decide to pay for one once you can tell for sure you’ve spent enough time to unlock most of what the season is offering.

Purchase of the Battle Pass uses the in-game premium currency Apex Coins. Reaching level 87 of 100 will net you enough Apex Coins to buy a Battle Pass for next season.

As for the challenges, the developer blog mentioned that it’s all about getting players learn and experiment with the core experience. “You’ll notice the first version isn’t built around a complex quest system where you need to do a 720 backflip off of Watchtower Artemis and get two Wingman headshots before hitting the ground,” writes Lead Product Manager Lee Horn.

“While we think there’s really cool design space in quests and challenges for future Battle Passes, we wanted the initial version to allow our players to just play and learn the game.”

In addition, the beginning of Season 1 will introduce the first new legend since the starting eight: Octane. Players and dataminers have definitely seen this one coming, but it’s good that it’s now revealed officially.

Season 1 of Apex Legends and the Battle Pass will be available tomorrow. Apex Legends is available right now on PS4, PC (Origin) and Xbox One.
