Ubisoft has once again shown more of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, the upcoming mainline Assassin’s Creed game that is returning to the series’ roots, this time at the Ubisoft Forward 2023 stream.
The past three AC games have evolved into an open-world RPG, which is impressive but there are plenty of those kinds of games in the market. But an Asasssin’s Creed game where you use the open world as a sandbox to complete your assassination targets? Other than Hitman, that style of game is rare to see. It is cool to see this title, which the development is headed by Ubisoft Bordeaux, has decided to go back to the series roots with Mirage.
There’s parkour, climbing up rooftops and jumping down, use of various gadgets to kill enemies and if all fails, combat. Though the latter isn’t the main feature, which is good. And yes, there are no more spongey enemies this time around.
What’s even cooler is the attention to detail Ubisoft is going for this time to further recreate this historic setting for Assassin’s Creed Mirage. The game takes place in Baghdad during the time of the Abbasid Caliphate. From the voice acting all having an accent of someone hailing from the Middle East, to the mannerisms of speech.
Protagonist Basim, upon reporting back after a successful assassination, is greeted by fellow members with “Alhamdulillah”, praising God for a job well done.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be the first AC game to feature full Arabic localisation. There will also be a “History Of Baghdad” feature which will let players discover the setting and era, which includes 66 historical sites spread across the world of AC Mirage.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be out on October 12 for PS4, PS5, PC (Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Store), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
