The Acer Nitro 5, the real entry-level gaming laptop with strong bang-for-buck, will be getting a 2021 refresh.
The new refresh will see the Nitro 5 decked out in either the latest Intel Core CPUs (11th-gen) H35-series or the new AMD Ryzen 5000 series, up to the Ryzen 9 5900HX.
As for graphics cards, expect all Nitro 5 variants to have Nvidia GeForce GTX or RTX cards. The highest-end include the RTX 3080.
On the display side, the Nitro 5 can either have either 15.6-inch or 17.3-inch displays. And can go up to QHD (1440p) at 165 Hz or a 1080p screen at 360Hz refresh rate.
And for cooling, there will be twin fans, four exhaust ports and Acer CoolBoost software tech. Some other little tidbits include USB Type-C with Thunderbolt 4, and a 4-zone RGB keyboard.
It’s all a little vague, and it’s mostly minor refresh from last year’s decent offering (also available in Intel or AMD flavour). The 2021 do sport some minor design changes on the chassis based on the press shots, but nothing too significant.
But hey, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. For those looking for a budget-friendly gaming laptop (and can make do without some of the fancier tech from the usual premium gaming laptops), you might want to keep an eye on the Acer Nitro 5.
