A Certain Magical Virtual-On Is One Odd Crossover, Out In 2018 In Japan

When it comes to crossovers, Japan is always in the lead. Sega announced earlier this year that its fabled arcade mecha brawler Virtual-On will make a comeback as a crossover game.

This crossover between Sega and Dengenki Bunko made its debut as a light novel, which featured the cast of  Toaru Majutsu no Indekkusu (A Certain Magical Index) in 2016. Now we will be getting a video game adaptation in the form of  Toaru Majutsu no Virtual-On (A Certain Magical Virtual-On).

The game itself looks like Virtual-On but with more anime flourish thanks to the cross-over. Characters from A Certain Magical Index are now piloting those mechs (Virtualoids).

It’s an odd crossover, but then again Sega has Hokuto Ga Gotoku, the Fist Of The North Star/ Yakuza cross-over in the works. So it’s par for the course.

A Certain Magical Virtual-On will be out in February 15 next year in Japan, but don’t hold your breath for an English version soon.
